

I just thought, girls are under so much pressure and this was a great platform to do something about it.

Sarah-Louise adds: “My daughter said she felt her boyfriend would be comparing her to women in porn and she felt that she wasn’t good enough and it made her feel insecure. The boys also need to value their bodies.” It was also to help boys around them get the same experience. They had grown up to an age where I felt I had given them enough to be strong minded females, but doing this documentary meant I could give them a little bit more.

Women and girls are being pressured into doing things they don’t feel comfortable with because their boyfriends have seen it on screen. Studies have show that young men are using violent porn as a form of sex education, acting out what they seen on the screen with their young female partners. It was clear that a lot of young people were accessing porn and were being influenced by it.”

But with statistics from the NSPCC finding that the majority of children have been exposed to pornography by their early teens – 65 per cent of 15- to 16-year-olds and 28 per cent of 11- to 12-year-olds – the show’s makers, Firecracker Film, believe this is a problem that needs to be tackled, as it’s not going away.Įxecutive producer Emma Morgan says: “We were shocked by the stats about the impact of free mainstream porn online on the younger generation.
